What guns does the Joker use?

The Joker uses a customized selective-fire Glock 18 which is a 9mm handgun with an extended (31 rounds with standard floorplate, 33 with extended, the normal for this magazine is extended) magazine, since the weapon fires full-auto. He uses this handgun in several scenes as it appears to be his gun of choice. In the hospital scene it is attached with a silencer.

The gun the Joker uses in the convoy chase scene, when he gets out of the truck yelling "Hit me!", is a Smith & Wesson M76 Submachine gun with a swivel stock that is folded to one side.

Logo Feces

Okay, I freakin' HATE it when a website or magazine or TV broadcast station feels the need to include their logo on every image they show. Of course, I don't mean the unassuming ones that are just a small blurb across the very bottom of the picture, I mean the ones that are in your face letting the whole world know where this image was posted or shown or whatever. Yes, I understand that if I like said picture, I might want to go back to the source to find more, which is why I don't mind a little here's-my-card at the bottom of the image. But that in-your-face logo FECES that they plaster right in the center of an otherwise beautiful picture just pisses me off to no end. Take for instance the "Bat Blog" logo in the image above. That really sucks. So, I have removed it for you (the full pic is up this side bar a little ways, unfortunately, it's a small pic anyways, I just enlarged the logo feces for emphasis). I have also removed the logo feces from a pic in the Interrogation Scene sequence (P.S. it's the one where he's laying down on top of the table). You're welcome.

How did Heath Ledger's death affect the film?

Warner Bros. had restructured its marketing campaign to focus more on Batman. Up until Ledger's death, it had concentrated on the Joker. But the Joker didn't disappear from the campaign. Trailers for the movie still included him. And posters for the film still had his signature line, "Why so serious?"

Ledger, who died Jan 22, 2008, had finished filming his role of the Joker in the The Dark Knight. His death had little, if any, effect on the finished film.

Ledger's death did not affect the U.S. release date, which was July 18 2008. Certainly, the Joker still appeared and was not played by another actor.

No announcement has been made on whether the character will appear in the sequel. By the end of Dark Knight, the Joker is arrested.

When asked whether the Joker would appear again (which would require the role to be recast), Christopher Nolan said, "I don't know. I honestly have not taken a moment away from what is going on with the film now to even think about that. I don't know. I simply don't know."

Who Really Is The Joker?

The Joker is not insane - he is just too clever for his own good. He gets bored so easily, and therefore makes a sport out of duelling with Batman. This is how he is portrayed by Heath Ledger, anyway. Jack Nicholson portrays him as a man wronged, insanely bent on revenge upon Gotham City.

Insane doesn't even begin to describe this man. The most evil, deranged, and flat out psychotic of all comic book villains, The Joker is the primary antagonist of Batman. He is the complete opposite of Batman, in everything from appearance (Batman tends to be a rather large and muscular man, while The Joker is typically a man of average height possessing a skinny frame), to ideals. The Joker views killing as sport, and will not hesitate to toy with his food before he eats it, even if said food are the men he has hired to work for him. As intimidating as he is psychotic, he still manages to recruit hordes of henchmen despite his maniacal insanity.

The Joker's physical appearance is a polar opposite of that of Batman. Batman uses dark colors such as gray and black to intimidate criminals, while The Joker relies on bright colors, such as purple, green, and sometimes orange to do his bidding. The Joker also has a trademark clown face, the origins of which differ depending on the continuity he is used in. Some incarnations of The Joker see him wearing actual make up (such as in the film The Dark Knight), while others show his skin actually having been bleached (as in Batman 1989). He also traditionally has green hair, to complete the look of the psycho clown.

His methods are unpredictable and incalculable. He does things according to his own twisted sense of logic, and does not desire money. If there was one thing that he did desire, it would be the power to instill anarchy into Gotham by any means necessary, proving that organization is meaningless and futile. He is an exceptionally intelligent man, and this tends to be his greatest weapon against Batman, the police, and the District Attorney's office. He is often confronted by the authorities, but easily evades capture due to sick and twisted mind games he plays on them, all full of mystery. While Batman prefers to stay in the shadows, The Joker basks in the spotlight, often broadcasting himself to the public and media outlets.

Though he may be Batman's undisputed arch-nemesis, The Joker has always held some kind of respect for Batman, saying in "The Dark Knight", "Why would I kill you? What would I do without you?". He also acknowledges that Batman will never kill him, as that is Batman's only rule, and since The Joker will not kill Batman, they are truly destined to fight forever. As The Joker says, "This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object."

Throughout the course of The Joker's involvement in Batman's film and television appearances, The Joker has had many different and diverse interpretations. In the 1960's, Cesar Romero portrayed the character as campy, funny, yet strangely psychotic. In 1989, Jack Nicholson played The Joker in a somewhat human way, however upped the "killer" aspect of the character, as well as the quick temper. He also possessed bleached skin in the film, and received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance. In the early to mid 1990's, Mark Hamill voiced the character as icy cold and cruel, vastly different from Nicholson's character interpretation.

In 2008, however, The Joker was taken in a direction he had never been taken before. In "The Dark Knight", the late Heath Ledger portrayed The Joker as a completely psychotic and demonic killer. Any humor that the character shows is sardonic and cruel. Ledger's Joker was a personification of anarchy and chaos. His primary goal seems to be to prove that people, in dire situations, are just as sick and horrible as he is. This Joker's most frightening and dangerous asset is his intelligence.

The Dark Knight Sequel?

This blogger and editor of this blog asks: "Can there even be a Dark Knight sequel without the Heath Ledger Joker?" But I suppose there could be with a story line that removes the Joker from it completely. I mean, come on, it's not like you can replace him. Right?

Ever since The Dark Knight came out and started garnering positive reviews, earning lots of money and becoming IMDb's favorite movie of all time (it has since fallen to #4), rumors have been flying regarding various aspects of a possible sequel. They've already been put to rest once. Now we're here to confirm they're all being put to rest again.

Screenwriter David Goyer told MTV News that none of the rumors are true, "It's all BS. ALL of it." ALL of it means that Christopher Nolan has not signed on yet, no casting has been decided and no actors have signed on to return.

“Chris and I haven’t even talked about it. He quite understandably is taking a long, long vacation and wants to purge himself,” Goyer told MTV. Guess this means Cher might not actually be Catwoman after all. “We have mused here and there [but] I mean Chris is pretty much a one movie at a time kind of guy,” Goyer said. “I wish I could tell you more. There really isn’t anything to tell.”
